CRIMINAL DEFENSE

Whether you realize it or not, you probably know your Miranda rights. After all, they’re frequently quoted in movies and TV shows. When someone gets arrested, they’re told that they have the right to remain silent, as well as the right to an attorney. These are Miranda rights, and they were created to protect an arrested person from being “a witness against himself,” as stated in the Fifth Amendment.

It’s important that you know your basic rights, especially when you find yourself in a criminal situation. Miranda rights are particularly important because exercising them can prevent you from accidentally incriminating yourself or saying something that could be interpreted as self-incriminating evidence later on.

As for your “right to an attorney,” it’s crucial that you take that right seriously. Getting appropriate legal representation can mean the difference between having your case dismissed and facing serious criminal charges. Unfortunately, most cases aren’t so black and white. Sometimes you may be looking at other consequences, such as fines or jail time. Whatever the circumstances, though, a seasoned criminal defense attorney may be the key to reaching a fair resolution.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO AN ATTORNEY

USE IT WISELY

STRONG DEFENSE, NO MATTER THE CRIME

Legally, I can’t claim that I’ll take on any case that’s brought to my door. But as far as ability and ambition are concerned, you’d be hard-pressed to find a criminal defense case that I’m unwilling to consider. If you’re not sure whether your case falls within my area of expertise, call anyways. You have nothing to lose and, potentially, something to gain by at least asking.

To give you an idea of just how wide-ranging my practice really is, here is a list of some of the common criminal charges and crime-related concerns I address. Keep in mind, this isn’t a comprehensive list:

  • DWIs

  • Drug Cases

  • Murder

  • Assault

  • Aggravated Assault

  • Child Abuse & Family Violence

  • Sexual Assault

  • Drug Crimes

  • Theft, Burglary & Robbery

  • Aggravated Robbery

  • Fraud

  • White Collar Crime

  • Probation Violation

  • Early Probation Termination

  • Non-Disclosures

  • Record Expunctions

No matter the crime, no matter how early or late it is in the legal process (pre-arrest, post-arrest, investigation, after indictment, etc.), I encourage you to call for a free consultation. Nothing makes me happier than seeing good people walk away from situations that could potentially harm their future, and I love helping to make that happen whenever I can.

EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS

When you get involved in a criminal case, a lot of things are out of your hands — that’s just the unfortunate truth. But it doesn’t mean you’re powerless. No matter how far along you may be in the criminal legal process, you always have rights. To make sure you’re exercising them to their fullest extent, start by exercising your right to an attorney. Call the Law Office of Sherrod J Edwards for a free consultation and an honest evaluation of your case.
